TITUS 1:5-9
Teaches that an elder MUST:
1. Be above reproach
2. Be the husband of one wife
3. Be the father of believing (faithful) children who are not accused of dissipation or rebellion
4. Be hospitable
5. Be a lover of what is good
6. Be sensible
7. Be just
8. Be devout
9. Be self-controlled
10. Holding fast the faithful word
Be able to both to exhort in sound doctrine and refute those who contradict.
MUST NOT:
1. Be self-willed
2. Be quick-tempered
3. Be addicted to wine
4. Be fond of sordid gain

I TIMOTHY 3: 1- 7
Teaches that an elder MUST:
1. Be above reproach
2. Be the husband of one wife
3. One who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with alt dignity
4. Be given to hospitality
5. Be temperate; prudent, respectable, hospitable
6. Be able to teach
7. Be gentle, uncontentious
8. Have a good reputation with those outside the church
9. Free from the love of money
MUST NOT:
1. Be addicted to wine
2. Be pugnacious (violent)
3. Be a new convert
